Dr. Zhang earned his Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry from Osaka University, Japan, from October 2019 to September 2022. Since April 2025, he has been an Associate Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University. Dr. Zhang has long focused on the field of sample preparation for proteomics, with porous aerogels featuring high mass transfer rates as the core technological foundation, systematically developing multiple efficient enrichment and identification methods for glycopeptides and phosphopeptides in complex biological samples. To address the core challenges of difficult modification and suboptimal performance of enrichment materials, he developed biomimetic chitosan aerogel materials that leverage the unique advantage of high-density hydrophilic groups on the material surface, achieving efficient HILIC enrichment of O-glycopeptides with significantly improved specificity and recovery. To tackle the cross‑talk interference between phosphorylated and glycosylated peptides, he developed controllable enrichment materials that can flexibly achieve either simultaneous enrichment of both phosphorylated and glycosylated peptides or specific enrichment of phosphopeptides alone, meeting the demands of different research scenarios. To address the bottlenecks of cumbersome and inefficient sample preparation workflows in large‑cohort proteomics studies, he designed and developed a scalable multi‑channel enrichment array integrated with an automated injection platform, enabling batch processing of 96 samples within 5 minutes with greatly improved efficiency and reduced labor costs. Over the past five years, Dr. Zhang has published 17 papers in leading SCI journals in the proteomics field including Analytical Chemistry, and has been granted 6 national invention patents. He has led multiple national‑level research projects including the Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Postdoctoral Special Support Fund, and the National Postdoctoral Talent Introduction Program, as well as provincial‑level talent projects including the Shaanxi “Sanqin Talents” Introduction Program Youth Project.
