The Second CRISPR/Cas9 Technology Training Program-20170503

CRISPR/Cas9 technology is currently a prominent gene-editing technique that employs a short RNA (guide RNA, gRNA) to direct the nuclease (Cas9) to a DNA target. Owing to its simplicity and scalability, this technology has been widely applied in laboratory research, biomedical research, and genetic engineering in plants and animals. Its applications include the establishment of various genetically modified model organisms, the generation of cell lines for gene regulation (e.g., knockout, insertion, repression, activation), animal and plant breeding, repair of genetic disorders, treatment of major diseases such as cancer, and screening of related drug targets. To further advance technological development, in response to the directive of the “13th Five-Year Plan for Strategic Emerging Industries Development” to promote the application of gene-editing technologies, develop novel gene therapy approaches, and facilitate the clinical translation and industrialization of gene-editing-based research, the National Center for Protein Sciences • Beijing / Beijing Proteome Research Center has scheduled the “Second CRISPR/Cas9 Technology Training Workshop” to be held in Beijing on May 26, 2017.
