Zhang Di, Assistant Professor at the School of Life Sciences, Peking University, Peking University Boya Young Scholar, Researcher at the National Key Laboratory of Gene Function Research and Manipulation, and Peking University-Tsinghua University Joint Center for Life Sciences. She is engaged in research on signal transduction mechanisms of metabolic adaptation and metabolic regulation. Researcher Zhang Di graduated from the eight-year program of Peking University Health Science Center, studying under Academician Shang Yongfeng, and was engaged in research on the molecular mechanisms of epigenetics and gene transcriptional regulation in tumor occurrence and development. During her postdoctoral research at the University of Chicago, in collaboration with Louis Block Chair Professor Zhao Yingming, she first discovered that metabolites in mammalian cells (such as lactate, ketone bodies, etc.) can drive novel protein modifications—lysine lactylation modifications, etc., which have now been cited over 2,000 times.
