The 5th Advanced Training Course on Proteomics Technology and Applications Successfully Held

From July 17 to 20, 2012, the Beijing Proteome Research Center (BPRC), the State Key Laboratory of Proteomics, and the Proteomics Division of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology jointly held the Fifth Advanced Training Workshop on Proteomics Technologies and Applications at the Beijing Proteome Research Center. The workshop attracted over 70 participants from relevant research fields across the country.

Building on the success of previous sessions, this workshop further enhanced the quality of instruction and training. Based on feedback from past participants, the organizing committee held multiple discussions with expert faculty to finalize the course content and instructional format, and carefully designed personalized schedules for each participant according to their registration information.

The training program consisted of two components: “Technical Lectures” and “Experimental Demonstrations and Observations.” The technical lectures were delivered by several expert speakers and covered the essential workflow of proteomics research, including sample preparation techniques, separation technologies, biological mass spectrometry, proteomics informatics, protein‑protein interaction studies, quantitative proteomics, experimental design for quantitative proteomics, and peptidomics technologies and applications.

According to post‑workshop satisfaction surveys, participants generally reported that the technical lectures were well‑structured in content, with detailed and engaging presentations rich in information. The experimental demonstration sessions were noted for the instructors’ effective integration of theory and practice, clear and meticulous explanations, and thorough responses to questions. Participants unanimously agreed that the training not only provided them with applicable new knowledge but also introduced effective research techniques and strategies that helped validate certain concepts and, more importantly, equipped them to better address practical challenges encountered in their own work.

The Fifth Advanced Training Workshop on Proteomics Technologies and Applications concluded successfully. The sixth session is scheduled to take place from November 13 to 16 this year. Interested researchers are encouraged to watch for the training announcement and register accordingly. We will continue to refine and innovate the training content and format, enhance relevance, and further improve training quality, so as to better fulfill our role as a training base for proteomics talent development.
